- Is an eye exam required before ordering contact
lenses?
Seeing a doctor before ordering contact lenses
to be sure you can wear them, to get proper instructions,
and to receive follow up care is always appropriate. If your
prescription is less than 2 years old and you are starting
to notice some changes in your vision, or if you have a prescription
that is more than 2 years old, you should be reexamined before
ordering contacts.
- Is a prescription needed to buy special effect
contacts?
There are special effects contact
lenses without a visual correction if you have good vision
and just want to change the color of your eyes. We are not
suggesting you should order color contact lenses without first
being examined to determine if you are a good candidate for
color contacts and to receive instructions and needed follow
up care.
- Can I order colour contacts with an eyeglass
prescription?
Not really because the eyeglass
and contact lens specifications are not the same. Also, you
need to be evaluated and fitted for contacts and given instructions
on the care and handling of the lenses so you don't wear them
out prematurely. If you currently wear glasses you should
go back to your doctor and ask to be fitted for contact lenses
as well. Don't forget to ask for a copy of your contact lens
specifications.
- How long will it take to receive the colored
contact lenses?
We are able to process and ship your order
within 1 to 2 business days since we stock most of the lenses
we sell. It will take around 4 days more depending on which
delivery service you selected. Express Mail takes 1 to 2 days,
Priority Mail can take up to 4 business days and regular mail
a week or two to make deliver.
- How safe are novelty contact lenses?
Novelty contact lenses are surprisingly safe
if proper instructions are complied with. You must always
wash your hands before you handle the contact lens. Do not
let any one else wear your contacts. Disinfect your lenses
regularly by using the proper solutions and do not wear the
contact lenses longer than recommended by your doctor.
- What if my contact lenses get dry on my eyes?
If you don't blink enough or properly when
wearing contact lense it will cause the lenses to blur and
feel gritty. Blink every 5 seconds at least, and supplement
with eye drops designed for contacts. Try the new Eyemist™
by Nature's Tears® available at major drug stores such
as Walgreen's or Eckerd's, or order direct at (800)367-6478,
or order on line at www.naturestears.com.
- How long can I wear coloured contact lenses?
A common question and a hard one
to answer because it all depends on the contact lens type,
and how you've taken care of them. With proper care most reusable
contact lenses will last many months before they wear out
and bother you. Never wear them longer than your doctor recommends.
Disposable contact lenses are not reusable and are for single
use only to be discarded within a week.
- Will color contacts on my eyes match your pictures?
They will be similar but not always exact.
These pictures are only meant to give you an idea of how the
colored contact lenses will look on the eyes. They will not
always be an exact representation because your underlining
eye color has some effect as will the color values of your
monitor.
- What is your contact lense guarantee?
The lenses come with a factory
warranty that the lenses will be free of defects when you
receive them. We don't guarantee how long the contact lenses
will last because that depends upon how you care for the lenses,
and we can't guarantee that you will like how colored contacts
will look on your eyes. If this concerns you, we suggest you
go to your local eye doctor and ask if you can try on their
sample color contacts. They get FREE demo lenses from the
manufacturer for just this purpose. Naturally if you want
their full cooperation you do not want to indicate that you
might be buying the lenses somewhere else.
- Can I alter the lens size and base curve from what
I'm wearing?
Thin contacts usually come in
one standardized size and curve and usually don't require
additional fitting. The thicker contact lenses require a specific
curve and size for a proper fit. . The size of the lens has
very little affect on the visual correction or on the fit
so they usually come as a one size fits all. Our color contacts
are the thin type and only come in a median (8.6) base curve
and 14.5 diameter.
- Can I get toric color contacts that correct astigmatism?
We don't sell the toric color
contacts for astigmatism because they are much more costly
and complex than regular color contact lenses therefore we
feel they should be purchase by the doctor that fitted you
in case of problems with your vision when you wear them.
